The Louis and Auguste Kunz collection
For a number of decades, Louis Kunz (1832-1900) and his son Auguste (1861-1930) created numerous photographic portraits in their studio on Rue Saint-Jean. In 1991, 10 000 glass plate negatives were gifted to the Nyon museums. Thanks to Memoriav (the association for the safeguard and promotion of Switzerland’s audiovisual heritage), 6 000 of them have been cleaned, registered, inventoried and preserved. Not only are these negatives of interest for the history of photography, but they tell the story of a region through its inhabitants, and are one of the key elements in the Museum’s collections.
